If you will find there a "sub-entry" under a particular program registry like the one on the attached screenshot, these are typically created by our product for apps which were put to sleep. Īlso please try to open Registry Editor and look for the following registries on your machine: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Image File Execution Options where you should find registry entries associated with all of you installed programs. At this point, I'm almost ready to see if there's any way to get this entirely undone! If this post has been answered before in the forums, or if there's a more direct way to get technical support, any links guiding me to those would be much appreciated. When I downloaded the Avast cleanup, it said it could "put files asleep/wake them up when you need them" but I can't seem to find the option to reactivate them. My computer keeps loading a Windows screen asking me to run/save iexplorer.exe (internet explorer) and chrome.exe (google chrome) whenever I click on their icons, but once I click "run" the screen flashes away, and nothing happens, and none of the files run. However, upon running the program and restarting my computer, now Microsoft Word, google chrome, internet explorer: all of my most important programs, won't even run! I put in the old Microsoft Office CD download, but installation wizard isn't even popping up. Due to this I downloaded a free trial for the Avast cleanup - to get rid of junk files that were taking up memory. I have a Windows 2009 computer, and it was recently slowing down considerably. I know this topic has been approached before, although I'm having a very strange case that I haven't seen answered in previous forum posts.
